EDU 505 Reflection This course has provided me with a deeper understanding of what the future of education may look like. I can honestly say that this was one of the most practical courses I have taken in my career. I found myself able to apply what I was learning to my educational institution. The course work studied allowed me to have a bigger picture of how this educational institution came to be what it is today and how it could benefit from important changes in the future.
I learned that planning for the future is a critical tool in education. The results of not planning could be evident for many years, Schools will always try to catch up but resources are not available to move forward. Analyzing demographic, political, and economic trends will inform educators of resources needed in the future.
I learned of many innovative and creative teaching tools that could help increase student engagement. The cookie cutter teaching tools of 100 years ago no longer fit the global world that students will be entering. Students need to have excellent communication and problem solving skills to be competitive in the world today. Personalized, problem-based learning could help prepare students for the global world.
